脈波速度（PWV）を使って、脳血管障害後遺症患者に低い強度の身体活動（LIPA）が麻痺側の下肢動脈の硬度の改善効果を有するか検証すること

We used pulse wave velocity (PWV) as an indicator of aortic distensibility and investigated whether low intensity physical activity (LIPA) administered to elderly hemiplegic patients may decrease aortic stiffness in the affected leg.

介入群には日常生活において40kcalに該当する身体活動を実施させた。この内容は足関節が稼動する膝の屈曲角度が最大屈曲角度の半分程度のスクワット運動を指導し実践させた。

Interventions, LIPA was administered daily to the IG over 8 weeks, and was designed to increase the daily energy consumption by 40 cal/day compared to the individual baseline value. The exercises included half squats and passive ankle dorsiflexion-plantar flexion.

選択基準/Key inclusion criteria

日本語
脳血管障害後遺症による片麻痺者、65歳以上、発症より５年以上経過していること、男性、屋内歩行が可能なこと、補装具を用いた屋外歩行が可能なこと。

英語
The inclusion criteria were: age above 65 years, male, hemiplegic, onset of stroke within 5 years, some of them required walking aid indoors, and all of them required a walking aid outdoors.

除外基準/Key exclusion criteria

日本語
1）身体活動の増加が不可能な状態にあること、2）コントロールされていない高血圧または不整脈があること、3）運動負荷がリスクになる臨床検査の異常所見があること、診断未確定や未処置の健康状況の存在がある場合。

1) severe functional limitations that precluded any increase in PA, 2) presence of associated cardiovascular conditions such as uncontrolled hypertension or angina, 3) presence of undiagnosed or untreated health conditions that manifested as abnormal findings in laboratory test and contraindicated exercise tests.
