PEEPトライアル前と比べ、オンラインPEEP設定5分後は背側の換気が増加し、1時間後も維持された。酸素化能も同様に改善した。

Compared with the values before the PEEP trial, ventilation distributions of the dependent region increased at 5 min after the PEEP online setting and were maintained at 1 h thereafter. Oxygenation also showed sustained improvement.

We included patients who had undergone elective cardiac surgery using cardiopulmonary bypass and who were admitted to intensive care units (ICUs) between June 2015 and December 2017.

Forty patients were initially enrolled in this study. However, PEEP decreased in five patients because of hemodynamic instability; thus, their data were excluded.

The primary outcome of our study was the effect of PEEP online on ventilation distribution in the dependent region assessed by Electrical impedance tomography. Secondary outcomes were the ratio of arterial oxygen partial pressure to inspiratory oxygen fraction and respiratory compliance.
