ベースライン調査の直後に蚊帳の配布を実施。
８地域を介入群とコントロール群の２群にランダムに分け、介入群内にあるすべての家屋に十分な（２人につき１張）ピペロニルブトキシド (PBO)を加えた長期残効型防虫処理蚊帳を配布する。

Immediately after a baseline survey, long lasting insecticide nets (LLINs) are distributed to all houses. Eight clusters are divided to randomly selected 4 intervention clusters and 4 control clusters. LLINs with piperonyl butoxidae (PBO) are distributed to all houses within the intervention clusters (1 LLIN per 2 persons).

マラリア感染調査の対象は、７ヶ月から１３１ヶ月の子供とする。
６０ヶ月から１３１ヶ月の子供は小学生を対象とする。調査時において、各群群からランダムに１７０人を選ぶ。

Children targeted for malaria transmission survey are aged between 7 to 131 months.
Children between 60 to 131 months old are school children. 170 children are randomly selected from each cluster for survey.

介入群と対照群のハマダラカの密度の違いは、３ヶ月と１０ヶ月後で、それぞれ、-2.5 (95% CI: -6.4 to -0.6) と-.3 (95% CI: -2.0 to -0.7)であった。熱帯熱マラリア原虫の感染率のクラスターレベルの中央値は、PCRベースで、介入５ヶ月後、介入群は25% (IQR=11%) 、対照群は52%(IQR=11%)であった。介入１２ヶ月後は、それぞれ、33% (IQR=5%)と45% (IQR=5%)であった。相対的感染危険度は、介入群において、５ヶ月とと１２ヶ月後、それぞれ、0.67 (95% CI: 0.38, 0.91) と 0.74 (95% CI: 0.53, 0.90)であった。

無作為に各群から150人の子供を選び、親または世話をしている大人から同意書を得た。検査日と検査場を知らせた後、検査に現れた子供に感染検査を行った。
