　理学療法が膝蓋下脂肪体の動態に及ぼす即時効果を超音波検査で評価することを目的とした。前向き単盲検無作為化対照試験にて、64名の健常若年者を徒手療法群、ホットパック治療群、コントロール群の3つの介入のいずれかに無作為に割り付けた。介入前後に膝蓋下脂肪体の超音波画像を撮影した。膝蓋下脂肪体の厚みの変化率を算出し、介入前後の群間および群内の変化を比較した。有意な群間差は観察されなかった。効果量は比較的小さかった。徒手療法やホットパックの介入は、若年健常者においては膝蓋下脂肪体の柔軟性に即効性がない可能性がある。

In this randomised controlled trial, 64 healthy young participants were enrolled and randomly assigned to one of the following three interventions: manual therapy, hot pack treatment, and control. The thickness change ratio of the infrapatellar fat pad was calculated to compare the changes between and within groups before and after the intervention. No significant inter-group differences were observed.
