就寝時の体温は筋肉による産熱の影響が小さいために最も安定した体温変化を記録する事が出来る時間である。体温変化は感染や体調不良、女性の性周期等により変化することが知られている。COVID-19を始めとする新型感染症では、本人の気づかない発熱や咳の症状が報告されており、感染の可能性の検討や、感染確認者で無症状の者等への自宅療養、または施設内療養時のモニタリング機器として開発する事を目的とする
