病院および介護施設などにおいて，日常的に患者および利用者の食事摂取量の把握がされている。病院における常食提供者は23.5％（小林ら，2013）と少なく、多様な形態の食事摂取量を把握することが求められる。食事摂取量は，看護師や介護士，看護助手，家族の観察における目測により，把握されていることが多い。食事摂取量把握の妥当性に関する研究（降矢ら、2013）でも、観察物の大きさ、形に影響を受け、大きいものや不定形のものは把握する個人の主観的判断のため，誤差が大きくなることも報告されている。また，食事摂取量の把握のために，看護師や介護士は，患者や利用者の食事摂取量を把握することが求められ，業務量増大の負担にもなっている。

In hospitals and long-term care facilities, the dietary intake of patients and users is regularly grasped. The number of regular meal providers in hospitals is as low as 23.5% (Kobayashi et al., 2013), and it is necessary to grasp various forms of meal intake. Dietary intake is often grasped by visual observations by nurses, caregivers, nursing assistants, and family members. Even in a study on the validity of grasping food intake (Furuya et al., 2013), the size and shape of the observed object are affected, and large and irregular shapes are subject to individual subjective judgment, so the error is large. It is also reported that it will be. In addition, nurses and caregivers are required to grasp the dietary intake of patients and users in order to grasp the dietary intake, which is a burden of increasing the amount of work.
