To compare the survival duration after the procedure of GJJ with those of DS.

To compare the technical success rates, clinical success rates, adverse event, length of the hospital stay and chemotherapy start time of GJJ with those of DS.

Key inclusion criteria

(1) Unresectable advanced pancreatic cancer
(2) Intestinal obstruction located from the distal one-third of the stomach to the distal duodenum
(3) Gastric Outlet Obstruction Scoring System (GOOSS) score of 0 (no oral intake) or 1 (liquids only)

Key exclusion criteria

We excluded those patients who had a structure in the proximal stomach or distal small intestine, another malignancy, a recurrent tumor, or a history of gastric or duodenal surgery, or had undergone previous gastrointestinal stent placement.

We retrospectively collected the data of consecutive patients who had undergone palliative treatment for GOO caused by pancreatic cancer at the Gifu University Hospital, Gifu Municipal Hospital, Gifu Prefectural General Medical Center between December 2008 and October 2015. we conducted this study to compare the efficacy and safety of GJJ with those of DS as types of palliative treatments for treating GOO in patients with advanced pancreatic cancer.
