We investigated the significance of BCR-ABL fusion gene expressing lineages in the Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph+ALL).
We confirmed that 36% of Ph+ALL patients could be classified as multi-Ph (BCR-ABL fusion gene was expressed outside leukemic blasts). Although no specific molecular characteristics were identified for multi-Ph, this phenotype was associated with better treatment outcomes.
