The objective of this study is to is to test the feasibility of a tailored yoga program offered for acute pain management during and immediately after an inpatient hospital stay in a small two armed stratified randomized controlled cross over trial. Acute pain during hospital stay is a major challenge to manage following surgical procedures.

Specific aims are to:
Aim 1. Determine feasibility of tolerance and use of a modified yoga intervention implemented during hospital stay to patients following lumbar spine surgery.
Aim 2. Determine the effectiveness of modified yoga intervention implemented during hospital stay to improve physical function and decrease pain and anxiety post lumbar spine surgery compared to usual care.
Aim 3. Determine the feasibility of an 8 week home-based modified yoga program specific for patients who have had lumbar spinal surgery immediately following hospital discharge

Inclusion criteria:
Adults between 40 and 80 yrs old scheduled for lumbar spine surgery (laminectomy with or without fusion)
Exclusion criteria
1) cancer related pain, 2) cauda equina syndrome, 3) spinal tumor, 4) regular practice of Yoga
