Results

From the electronic databases, we selected 8 trials comprising 571 patients for review. Compared with the GlideScope, Airtraq did not improve success rate, glottic visualization, or intubation time in tracheal intubation. TSA showed that total sample size did not reach the required information size for all parameters.

Baseline Characteristics

The inclusion criterion for studies was that each included study was either a prospective randomized control trials or a comparison between the Airtraq and the GlideScope in adults requiring tracheal intubation for a surgical procedure or for ventilation.

Participant flow

We independently assessed each of the two authors to determine if the extracted articles were suitable for our study selection. In addition, disagreements over the interpretation or analysis assignments of the data used in those extracted articles were resolved through discussion. If the results of a report may be duplicated and published, only the report that analyzes the latest data will be added to the meta-analysis. If we found missing or inconsistent data in the extracted articles, we contacted the author directly to retrieve the missing data and resolve the data inconsistencies.

Adverse events

none

Outcome measures

success rate (first attempt), glottic visualization (Cormack Lehane classification 1 vs 2 or higher), and intubation time.
