Objectives

Narrative objectives1

When the requirement that co-presenters be members is removed from the eligibility requirements for abstract at scientific meetings, we aim to (1) know how many abstracts will increase, (2) know how many co-presenters would have joined if the previous requirement had been in place, and (3) estimate the impact on the total revenue of admission fee, annual membership fee, and participation fee.

Observational study
A single web-based questionnaire survey will be conducted for the first presenter of accepted abstracts.
First, if the eligibility requirements for submitting a general abstract had been "both the first author and co-presenter must be members" as before, we will ask whether they would have submitted the abstract they submitted this time. Next, since the first author must be a member at the time of application, ask whether he or she joined the Japanese Society of Family Nursing on the occasion of this general abstract application, or whether he or she was a member regardless of this general abstract application. In addition, if there are co-presenters, ask if each co-presenter is a member. Finally, non-member co-presenters will be asked what they would have done if they had been required to be members under the previous requirements.
Analysis will be conducted by a researcher who does not know the content of the abstracts or the individual speakers. The number of members and non-members at the time of abstract submission is counted for co-presenters who are non-members of "Abstracts submitted even though they are members". In this case, in order to estimate the number of co-presenters who would have joined under the conventional requirements, the ratio of the number of co-presenters who "became members" and those who "were removed as co-presenters" is calculated, and those who "do not know" or "were left to their own devices" are considered to have either become members or been removed as co-presenters according to the ratio of the number of co-presenters. Although there is a possibility that the same person may actually be the first and co-presenters, we will not consider duplication because of ethical considerations such as not identifying the individual presenters and the fact that those involved in multiple presentations are likely to be original members who are deeply involved in family nursing and will not affect the results.
