高齢者はしばしば抑うつ症状を訴えて精神科外来を受診する。われわれの先行研究で、うつ病エピソードを呈する高齢者においても成人と同様に一部はsoft bipolarと呼ばれる一群が存在することが示された。Akisukalらの提唱するbipolarityの評価は、その診断の一助となりうる。抑うつもしくは抑うつ混合状態を呈する高齢者におけるBipolarityの頻度と気分安定薬の効果を明らかにする。

Elderly patients with dementia visiting psychiatry hospital are often in depressive or depressive mixed state. Our previous study revealed presence of soft form of bipolar disorder in elderly population. Evaluation of bipolarity proposed by Akiskal and his colleagues may help diagnosis of soft bipolar.
The study aims to clarify prevalence of bipolarity and efficacy of mood stabilizer in this population.

抑うつ状態もしくは抑うつ混合状態を呈する高齢者に対して、受診時にbipolarityを評価する。これらの患者に気分安定薬を投与して、その効果とこれに関与する因子を評価する。

Bipolarity is evaluated in the elderly patients in depressive or depressive mixed state at their first visit. They are treated with mood stabilizer and responce rate and factors affecting efficacy of the treatments are evaluated.
