目的1/Narrative objectives1

日本語
高齢2型糖尿病において嗅覚の低下と認知機能障害が関連しているかどうかを横断的に検討する。更に認知機能障害を呈していない症例に対し嗅覚低下が認知機能障害に先行するかを5年間前向きに検討する

We investigated a cross-sectional study on the correlation between olfactory dysfunction and cognitive dysfunction in aged patients with type 2 diabetes. Furthermore, we performed 5 years prospective study to evaluate whether olfactory dysfunction appears prior to cognitive dysfunction in the cases that have not shown cognitive dysfunction at baseline.

選択基準/Key inclusion criteria

1)外来通院中の65歳以上の２型糖尿病患者　


2)研究参画に対する文書同意が得られた患者

3)過去に認知機能障害を指摘されたことがない患者

1)Patients those over age 65 years with type 2 diabetes ,and those who return for follow-up visit


2) Written consent for participation in the study
3) patients who are free of clinically-evident cognitive impairment

除外基準/Key exclusion criteria

以下のいずれかに該当する患者は本研究の対象外とする


1)2週間以内に感染症に罹患した患者
2)手術前後の患者
3)重篤な外傷を有する患者
4).精神疾患と診断されている患者
5).甲状腺機能低下症の患者
6).副鼻腔炎、アレルギー性鼻炎、など嗅覚障害を呈する疾患の患者

7).脳腫瘍の既往のある患者
8).ステロイド使用中の患者
9)MMSEが17点以下
10).その他医師が不適当と認めた患者

Patients meeting one of the following conditions will be excluded
1) patients with severe infections within the preceding 2 weeks,
2) patients scheduled for surgery or who had undergone surgery within the preceding 6 months,
3) patients with severe trauma,
4) patients with psychiatric disorders, 5) patients with hypothyroidism,
6) patients with partial or complete olfactory dysfunction associated with sinusitis, allergic rhinitis, and deviated nasal septum,
7) patients with history of brain tumors, 8) patients on steroid treatment,
9) patients with a MMSE score of less than 18 points
10) patients who were considered ineligible based on the assessment of clinical investigators.
