生体における好中球の顆粒蛋白との相互作用に関しては不明な点が多く、腎疾患発症への関わりの多くは明らかにされていない。本研究は、好中球顆粒がどのような機能をもち、他の免疫細胞にどのような免疫反応を及ぼすかを検討し、腎臓病の発症メカニズム解明につなげることを目的とする。

好中球細胞質の含有蛋白の解析を健常者と腎疾患患者で比較した。いくつかの種類の蛋白の細胞質内における発現が、腎疾患患者で低下していた。
