本研究の目的は日本人の手術患者コホートにおいてOPRM1遺伝子の遺伝的，あるいは後生的な多様性と術後悪心嘔吐との関連を探索することである．

われわれはPONVの発症と重症度に関連する新しい一塩基多型(rs9397685)を日本人の手術患者コホートで発見した．また8つの一塩基多型で構成されるハプロタイプのうち，GGGAACGC型はPONVの重症度を軽減させることも明らかにした．

We found a novel intronic SNP of the OPRM1 gene (rs9397685) that was associated with differences in the incidence and severity of PONV in the Japanese surgical population. The GGGAACGC haplotype constructed from eight SNPs, including A118G and the novel intronic SNP, in the OPRM1 gene, was associated with decreased severity of PONV.
