主な結果/Results

スクリーンタイム（TV視聴時間およびTVゲーム時間）と肘肩痛の関連をロジスティック回帰分析にて解析した。その結果、1日当たり3時間以上ゲームを行っているもの（1時間未満が基準）が肘肩痛を有するオッズ比（95%信頼区間）は5.59（1.44-21.64）と有意な関連が見られた。一方、ゲーム時間と肘肩痛は統計学的に有意な関連は見られなかった。

We examined the association of game playing and television viewing with elbow or shoulder pain among elite young baseball players. Playing video games for more than 3 hours a day was associated with elbow or shoulder pain whereas TV viewing was not.

2017年8月3-6日にかけて実施された全国スポーツ少年団軟式野球大会に参加したチームの登録選手を本研究の対象とした。地方大会を勝ち上がった16チームが本大会に参加した。

The study enrolled young baseball players (age, 9-12 years) who participated in the National Junior Sports Clubs Baseball Festival held from August 3 to August 6, 2017. This national tournament is an annual event taking place in summer and sponsored by the Japan Junior Sports Clubs Association, which is the largest youth sports association in Japan. In 2017, the national tournament involved 16 baseball teams selected from among 6,378 teams (122,517 players) that had passed the regional qualifying tournaments.

参加者の流れ/Participant flow

大会に登録した選手210名に対して無記名アンケート調査を実施した。その内回答及び参加同意が得られた206名を研究対象とし、解析は女性選手を除いた200名を対象とした。

A self-reported questionnaire and informed consent forms (for the player and their parents) were mailed to all selected players in July 2017 (1 month before the tournament). The players were requested to fill the questionnaire themselves. Of the 210 tournament participants, 206 sent the consent forms and questionnaire before the tournament. Female players were excluded because their small number precluded statistical analysis (n = 6). Finally, 200 male players were included in the analysis.

本研究は、平成29年度スポーツ少年団全国野球大会登録選手を対象とした観察研究であり、筋骨格系障害の実態調査及び関連因子の調査を行う。アンケートにより野球の活動状況、生活習慣、スポーツに関連する障害の有無とその強度、医師による身体診察により股関節などの関節可動性や体幹の安定性、肘関節超音波検査により野球肘所見の有無といった情報を取得する。

This study is an observational study involving young baseball players participated in national tournament in 2017. The purpose of this study is to investigate the association between sports injuries and potential risk factors among high level young baseball players. The survey consists of a questionnaire (e.g., information of
baseball activity, lifestyle, and sports-related injuries), physical examination (e.g., joint flexibility and core stability), and ultrasound of the elbow.
