We will expolore measurements indexes that may be associated with amount of light-induced melatonin suppression (light resonsiveness of biological clock). As the measurements inexes, specifically, we will obtain pupil diameter in the dark or during light exposure, spectral transmittance of crystalline lens, post-illumination pupil response (PIPR) derived by melanopsin, which is a photoreceptor that contributes to circadian photoentrainment funcition in biological clock, and history of light exposure in daily life (illuminance and spectral components). When significant associations are found among multiple indexes, we will attempt to construct an estimattion fuomula integrated some indexes and evaluate its validity by cross-validation.
Efficacy
Discovery of indexes associated with the degree of melatonin suppression (light responsiveness of the biological clock)
Constraction of a formula for estimating the degree of melatonin suppression.
Dose-response relationship between melatonin suppression and illuminance in Japanese.
