Objectives

Narrative objectives1

It is not clear how the eyes of others affect the actual taste of a meal or the amount of food consumed. In a previous study by the applicants, it was found that the presence of another person's eyes made people respond that a meal was tasty. It has also been reported that the presence of another person's eyes increases the amount of donations. It can be understood that the presence of the eyes of others creates social norms. The purpose of this study is to examine whether the social norm created by the presence of the eyes of others decreases the amount of food consumed.
