Objectives

Narrative objectives1

This project aims to conduct academic research that contributes to the improvement of healthcare in Japan and abroad. The research will be based on the agreement concluded between Mito City and the University of Tsukuba. The primary focus of the research will be to analyze the information on medical care, nursing care, and health checkups, which will assist Mito City in planning and verifying effective health policies. This project intends to integrate the analyzed data into Mito City's administrative actions.

Basic objectives2

Others

Basic objectives -Others

In the current administrative environment, it is necessary to implement health services and long-term care prevention for the elderly in an integrated manner, based on data analysis integrating medical care, health checkups, and long-term care information. Against this backdrop, Mito City has a need for integrated analysis of medical and nursing care data for the elderly.

To support this need, Mito City and the University of Tsukuba will sign an agreement in July 2022 to conduct joint research using medical and nursing care receipt data. The aim of this research is to contribute to the improvement of healthcare for the elderly population by conducting integrated analysis of medical and nursing care data.

Other

Other related information

The data used for analysis includes medical and dental receipts (national health insurance and late-stage elderly medical care system), health examination data, and care receipts from April 2017 to March 2022 in Mito City. These data will be statistically analyzed for the following research topics:

1 Estimation of the number of patients using disease names, medical treatment practices, and drugs administered
2 Aggregation of time-series changes in trends in the use of medical and nursing care services
3 Verification of hypotheses using health checkup data and receipt data

As these raw data contain personal information, Mito City is responsible for converting the data into anonymized information that cannot identify specific individuals before providing it to the University of Tsukuba. The university receives the data as anonymized information that is not personal information. Although Mito City retains the personal information used to create the anonymized information, the University of Tsukuba cannot identify specific individuals since it does not hold the personal information used to create the anonymized information.
