Research methodology: scoping review. Following the framework of the PRISMA-ScR reporting guidelines for scoping reviews, the following steps were performed: 1) identify re-search questions, 2) identify relevant studies, 3) select studies, 4) chart data, and 5) collate, summarize and report results. [Research quality evaluation] Selection of literature will be made according to PRISMA-ScR guidelines, with two researchers independently reviewing the titles and abstracts according to the selection criteria. Those that cannot be excluded by the title and abstract will be read in full, and those that cannot be determined will be reviewed by the two researchers, who will make the final decision on the literature to be adopted.

Concept: planned or happenstance

Identification of research question
Primary Research Question; Can Planned Happenstance Theory be applied to career education in nursing? What are the possibilities and challenges?
Identification of relevant research
Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed, CINAHL (European literature) and CiNii, Ichushi Web (Japanese literature) were searched to identify relevant studies. These databases were used on November 22, 2023.
The following search formulas were used
a. Scopas/Web of Science/PubMed/CINAHL: ("TI planned" OR "TI happenstance") AND " TI career"
b. CiNii/Ichushi-Web: {"TI keikaku (planned)" OR "TI guuzen (happenstance)" OR " TI guuhatu (happenstance)"} AND "TI kyaria (career)"
Research Selection
